What a weekend. After the successful completion of the Doughboy 5168, it was off to Florida for a mere two and a half days. With the cancellation of the Clearwater 5150, I changed my plans just a bit. Instead of going to bed early Friday, with a clear schedule Saturday, I decided to have a good time. I was among friends, in a gorgeous resort, with great hospitality at the rehearsal dinner, post dinner lounge gathering, and wedding reception. With my Tuesday race behind me, and the half marathon three months away, it was time to let loose and party like a rock star just once. Or, like a 39 year old guy who doesn’t get out much, and for whom two manhattans is pretty much the limit. In any case, I had a great, if short, trip. I visited downtown Disney twice, mostly the Lego shop. It was fun for a short time to be there on my own schedule, but I am now jazzed to get back there with my family.
Now it’s time to focus on running until January. Between now and then, I will be carefully studying HIM plans, to begin after our return from Disneyworld.
In the meantime, I’ll wait for my check from WTC. I finally got a response to my email about my refund. Of course, there was absolutely no mention of why the race was cancelled. There was no explanation, no excuse, nothing. Just the standard “the check is in the mail.”
Here is the email:
